Unit 1: 21st Century Protective Security, Counter Terrorism & Management Systems
Understand how the terrorist threat has changed, what that means for organisations today, and why private sector protective security requires a different approach.
Learn how to turn threat information into organisational decisions and develop a structured approach to planning, designing, implementing and maintaining proportionate protective measures.
You will also learn how to assess potential impact, resources, time and cost, helping determine what may be required before committing to detailed risk analysis and investment.

Unit 2: Risk Analysis, Threat Assessment & Protective Security
Develop a structured approach to understanding organisational needs, threats, vulnerabilities and risk, using principles that can be applied across different recognised risk management standards.
Learn how to gather and interpret information, anticipate how threats could develop, assess potential attack methods and make proportionate decisions that can stand up to scrutiny.
You will also learn how to design layered protection, prioritise resources and focus them where they can have the greatest protective effect, turning risk analysis into practical protective security.

Unit 3: Crisis Management, Response & Recovery
Understand how people and organisations react during serious incidents, and use that knowledge to strengthen crisis management, response and recovery.
Learn how to design workable incident response plans, manage critical communications and bring together internal teams, external stakeholders and responding agencies within a coordinated approach.
You will also learn how to establish priorities, manage competing demands and turn planning into a response capability that people can understand and apply under pressure.

Unit 4: Developing Organisational Counter Terrorism Capability
Understand why conventional staff training can fall short, what needs to change, and how a more practical approach can better prepare people for their role in protective security and counter terrorism.
Learn how to build short, targeted training into normal working routines, developing knowledge and confidence without unnecessarily removing people from their operational duties.
You will also learn how to progressively test understanding, decision making and recall under pressure, helping people apply what they have learned when it matters.

Unit 5: Understanding Adversary Tactics & Operating Environment
Understand how terrorists and other hostile actors develop an attack from initial planning through preparation, execution and escape, and where opportunities may exist to identify suspicious activity before an incident occurs.
Learn how to view protective security from the adversary’s perspective, recognise potential indicators and use that understanding to strengthen prevention, detection and protection.
You will also examine the particular challenges of the Night Time Economy and how protective security and counter terrorism measures can be adapted to environments where people, behaviour, operating conditions and risk can change rapidly.

Unit 6: Final Practitioner Assessments & Certification
Bring together the knowledge, judgement and practical understanding developed across the programme through two final assessments.
Both assessments must be successfully completed, demonstrating the required standard of understanding and application before the programme is completed and final CPD certification is awarded.
